Aspire welcomes new Executive Director

Aspire welcomes new Executive Director

Aspire Counseling is pleased to introduce Tamara George as our new Executive Director.  A combined Board and staff committee spent many hours conducting a nationwide search to identify just the right candidate for this key moment in our evolution. Tamara met with the committee, followed by interviews with the Director and Clinical Supervisors, and finally with the administrative and clinical staff.  Tamara brings to Aspire strong business skills and a passion for working with individuals in need. She began her career as an accountant with Ernst & Young, before transitioning to the non-profit sector where she has worked for over a decade bringing change to local communities.

Prior to joining Aspire, Tamara served as the Managing Director for the Southampton Housing Authority on Long Island. Previously, she worked as the Director of Development at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center until she moved to Suffolk, Virginia.  There she became the Director of Programs and Finance for Horizons Hampton Roads serving at-risk students in the cities of Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach through an academic and cultural enrichment program. Tamara earned her Baccalaureate in Accounting from Long Island University and a Master’s of Business Administration in Leadership and Management at Dowling College. She is the mother of a college graduate and third grader.

Committed to being a “servant leader”, Tamara intends to advance Aspire’s mission by combining an analytical and a community development approach.  Aspire will greatly benefit from her leadership, fundraising and business skills as she leads Aspire in this exciting new phase.

As we welcome Tamara, we say goodbye to Nancy Ebb in her capacity as Aspire Counseling Co-Director. Nancy worked as Co-Director alongside Founder ‘Posey’ Rogolsky for eleven years. Nancy has been instrumental in getting our community-based programs up and running, having developed the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies program and the Integrated Behavioral Care program. She remains fiercely committed to making mental health care accessible to all, and we are pleased she will be able to continue to do this in her position as Aspire’s new Clinical Director.

What a team!
